A Citizen Scientist

Why choose "A Citizen Scientist" as the site name?

The theme that underlies this site is best explained by first referencing three concepts and then distilling them into a single thesis:

  • Crowd sourcing
  • Community based participatory research
  • Citizen science

All three, in some manner, pertain to a concerted, decentralized, and/or distributed contribution of knowledge, material resources, or efforts able to advance a defined goal toward completion more efficiently and effectively than any single entity could do alone.

With this synthesis in mind, "A Citizen Scientist" was chosen as a moniker, and the banner image of a single shape with multiple shadows was chosen as a mascot. The mascot image conveys that all perspectives hold some truth, and it alludes to my work ethic of seeking to optimize processes and to develop greater understanding by accounting for this.

At present, A Citizen Scientist is home to a single Citizen Scientist.
